Vince Staples x Converse Celebrate 'Big Fish Theory'
Vince Staples doesn't shy away from his opinion and is definitely one to start a conversation. The 24-year-old hailing from Long Beach mixes in subversive rap over house beats to present thoughtful social commentary, which has set him apart from many rappers. One of the most talked about albums of 2017, Big Fish Theory shows just how his unassuming style and individuality comes through. His talent and ability in telling a story is what made it one of the top records last year. Converse and Vince Staples celebrate Big Fish Theory with this exclusive collaboration featuring the album’s motifs amongst the Chuck 70s.
Staples' first pair of Chuck Taylors was to go with his school uniform where he purchased at a swap meet. "If you’re not really paying that much attention, you won’t know the difference. But [the Chuck] is something that a lot of people use to be able to assimilate into any room they’re going into — every type of person” - Vince Staples
The key colour way for the collection features orange, drawing references back to his album with darker tones for the Hi and Ox Chuck 70s. Embroidery, graphic outsole, aquarium sock liner and orange screen printing are details that make these one of a kind.
“The story of the Chuck Taylor is accessibility and culture" - Vince Staples
The Converse x Vince Staples collab is available January 24 at selected JUICE stores.
