CLOT joins street culture heavyweights at Style in Revolt exhibition
CLOT joins some of the most influential figures in street culture at the Style in Revolt exhibition in Beijing, with an exclusive launch of a capsule collection.
Held at the T-10 exhibition space at SKP-S Beijing, Style in Revolt is produced by London-based agency Kennedy and curated by leading figures in the scene, including Nike’s Fraser Cooke, Stüssy, and adidas alumni Paul Mittleman, creative consultant Sami Janjer, and Acyde Odunlami of No Vacancy Inn.
Breaking down into three chapters—The Genesis (1982-2005), The Boom (2000-2021), and The Now (2015-2021)—Style in Revolt guides visitors onto an immersive journey through the history and evolution of street culture, while exploring the cross-pollination of fashion, music, art, and design from graffiti, skate culture and streetwear’s influence on contemporary culture today. As much a mindset as it is a fashion archetype, this exhibition tells the story of how streetwear began in various pockets of youth culture and their moments of revolt.
Besides original artworks and never seen before objects, the non-exhibition area features a fully functioning basketball court designed by Pigalle and III Studios based on their iconic Paris court.
Names of heavyweights in the streetwear scene extends from the curator line-up to those of contributors including designers Kim Jones, Hiroshi Fujiwara, NIGO, the late Virgil Abloh, and brands from Dior to A-COLD-WALL* and Supreme. With an on-going mission to bridge creativity and cultures from the East and West through streetwear, CLOT was also invited to join fellow protagonists in the industry today at 'The Now' section. The CLOT space showcased products created in collaboration with Polo by Ralph Lauren, sacai and Polaroid, as well as the incense burners made with Kuumba for CLOT's 15th anniversary.
Other than taking part in the exhibition, CLOT has also created a limited edition capsule collection exclusive for Style in Revolt's exhibition store, The Drop. Available for a limited time only, the Style in Revolt capsule comprises T-shirts, hoodies, jackets and bottom pieces, all incorporated with the brand's signature style codes including the emblematic Silk Royale and ALIENEGRA patterns.
T-shirts, in particular, come with an extensive design choices. The CLOT Globe Logo Tee, for example, presents an eco-conscious narrative with an illustration of the earth and a hidden brand logo, whereas the Jah Bless This Mess Tee depicts a pair of x-rayed hand in a praising gesture. The CLOT C Graphic Tee, meanwhile, has a distinctive C shaped design, and the Shadow Logo Tee features the brand name and logo in contrasting hues.
Product highlights include a set of reversible T-shirt, jacket, long and short pants in the Silk Royale pattern, imagined in an olive green hue exclusive to Style in Revolt. The ALIENEGRA range, on the other hand, presents the iconic thorn-like pattern on T-shirts, hoodies, shorts and tote bag for easy styling.
Apart from the specially designed capsule range, the CLOT x Ojeito collab is also exclusively pre-launching at Style in Revolt. Set to officially release later in the year, visitors at the exhibition will get a chance to be among the first to acquire these on-the-go bags that are as stylish as they are functional.
The CLOT for Style in Revolt capsule collection is exclusively available at the exhibition from 4 March to 11 March 2022.
