This season, CLOT presents the Spring Summer 2018 “NEW WORLD” collection. The concept of this collection is inspired by dystopian novel “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, the collection takes us on a journey to explore the importance of the individual. The narrative of the collection begins as humans first visit the new world in awe of the engineering and constructions that exist. Graphic elements of this future world are envisioned through prints and unconventional construction in the range. The old world still lingers in the background, expressed through collaged vintage graphics versus digital components on new sporty silhouettes such as hoodies, and mesh tees. Utilitarian elements in the collection represent the governing power behind the new world where order and control still exists.

The governing body distributes “Soma” so people of the new world only see beauty. Yet the satiric decaying reality of the world controlled by the “outside” is juxtaposed and expressed through a floral print. The mixtures of turquoise, blue and yellow in the floral repeat is featured in colour as well as a muted khaki on different garments. “NEW WORLD” incorporates a variety of newly designed styles, including graphic print tees, wild windbreaker, hooded sweaters, pants and accessories. Patchwork, contrasting fabrications, panelling as well as rustic colours contrasted with a popping yellow expresses the dystopian nature of this fictional society.
