The adidas Originals x Reverie by Caroline Hú collection, presented by Edison Chen makes its highly anticipated debut.
The collaboration between adidas Originals and Chinese fashion designer Caroline Hú was facilitated by the introduction of Edison Chen during Shanghai Fashion Week at the CLOT SS24 'CHANGE THE GENERATION' Show last year. As a rising star in the Chinese fashion landscape, Caroline Hu has made a name for herself, earning recognition as a finalist for the prestigious LVMH Young Designer Award and the first-ever Chinese designer to take home the BoF China Prize, solidifying her status as an emerging talent to watch in the industry.
For this collaboration, Caroline Hú brings details from the concept of her Spring Summer 2024 collection, “the distance and space between people,” to one of the classic adidas model Samba. Through this collaboration, adidas Originals and Caroline Hú continue to push the boundaries of contemporary fashion, redefining the brand's classic codes in pursuit of romance and romantic qualities — an underlying theme that inspires Caroline Hú's designs.
This remarkable collaboration seamlessly blends adidas Originals' iconic design elements from the Samba silhouette with Caroline Hú's unique aesthetic, showcasing a captivating interplay of soft, delicate materials like lace and textured silk in blue, pink, black and off-white colorways. A hazy and soft "shell" is created using lace and pleating techniques, referencing the sense of security and the proximity of interpersonal interactions.
Stacking and repetition of lace symbolizes the subtle connections and overlap between individuals. The shearing satin style is a reinterpretation of the handmade smocking technique that Hú uses in her couture runway pieces. The palette consists of shades of blue, pink, black, and white. The limited adidas Originals x Reverie by Caroline Hú collaboration series will be available at designated JUICE retail stores and online on May 24 , 2024.
