CLOT LAUNCHES 3-IN-1 NIKE “CLOTEZ” INSPIRED BY THE YIN-YANG PHILOSOPHY
Staying true to the mission of nurturing new voices in China, CLOT Founder and Creative Director Edison Chen has worked with aspiring designer Harry Wong to launch the CLOT x Nike “CLOTEZ”, featuring a 3-in-1 design inspired by the yin-yang philosophy.
Yin Yang, a fundamental part of CLOT’s DNA, is the most essential expression of Tai Chi. For his latest Nike collab, CLOT’s Edison Chen explores the emphasis on fluidity and change in the ancient martial arts of Tai Chi, inviting young local talent Harry Wong for a creative exchange. The two first met in 2018 at the Nike: On Air contest, where Chen served as a judge and Wong was among the contestants. Drawing inspiration from Wong’s competing Air Max design titled “Kung Fu Soul”, the new CLOT x Nike “CLOTEZ” brilliantly translates the Tai Chi concept through a transformable design that encapsulates a Kung Fu shoe-inspired silhouette.
Inspired by the Tai Chi Diagram, also known as the Yin Yang symbol, “CLOTEZ” debuts in a black and white color palette, with drawstring fastening featuring a Yin Yang symbol and Chinese characters “功” and “夫” (Kung Fu)embroidered at the heel. With a 3-in-1 design, the “CLOTEZ” can be worn as it is or taken apart, converting into two separate shoes, including a sneaker and a slip-on. The sneaker, meant as an indoor house shoe, features a black Swoosh on a white leather upper, whereas the matte black slip-on comes in a Kung Fu shoe-inspired silhouette, with serrated bottoms for maximum grip. Each “CLOTEZ” comes with detachable insole for the slip-on for extra comfort.
The CLOT x Nike “CLOTEZ” in black & white is set for release on February 10, 2023, at JUICE selling doors worldwide. Follow @CLOT and @JUICESTORE social media channels for instant updates.
