CLOT x CONVERSE ONE STAR '74
On September 14th, CLOT and Converse will issue a special release One Star sneaker to celebrate the alignment of our CLOT Fall 2017 collection "INNER PEACE". Having collaborated with Converse since 2012, the new collection by founders Edison Chen and Kevin Poon cements the long standing relationship between the brands. This special edition of the Converse One Star sneaker hones in on our mission to creatively merge the East and West. The CLOT x Converse One Star sneaker is an homage to all things Tai Chi and as well as the icon’s roots in popular culture via basketball, music and skate.
"TODAY PAST TODAY" a short film by Vernie Yeung starring Edison Chen.
STRIKING A BALANCE IN OPPOSITION PAYING HOMAGE TO THE ANCIENT CHINESE ART OF TAI CHI
Similar to a balanced yin and yang, the shoe’s black upper and white outer collar in hairy suede mirrors the zen Chinese symbols for Inner Peace imprinted on the shoe’s insole and outer sole. Printed on both sides of the inner foxing is a quote of Confucian wisdom:
“PAST SCHOLARS STUDIED TO IMPROVE THEMSELVES: TODAY’S SCHOLARS STUDY TO IMPRESS OTHERS”
The shoes are housed in premium packaging with an ode to traditional martial arts with illustrations scrawled on top of a diagram of Tai Chi movements on the box lid. Also included, is a contrasting pair of cotton laces in Vanilla and Black.
The new CLOT x Converse One Star collection will be launched at a special pop up in JUICE Shanghai and LA on Wednesday, September 13. They will also be available at JUICE Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing and Chengdu on Thursday, September 14.
