Jean-Michel Basquiat x WACKO MARIA Collaboration - Spring/Summer Release at JUICE!
WACKO MARIA in collaboration with Jean-Michel Basquiat, has showcased three of Basquiat's famous art pieces in signature WACKO MARIA fashion. As Basquiat was one of the few Black-American painters to breakthrough the stratosphere of the creative industry in the '70s & '80s, the brand commemorates the works of his paintings, Untitled (History of the Black People), Untitled (Head), and Obnoxious Liberals, through the brand's high-quality fabrics within its famous Hawaiian shirt silhouette.
His art is defined as being driven by his own spirit and emotion at the time of creation, exhibiting a bold and brash art-style as a result - now displayed, not only in painting, but in an all-over imprint style. The colorful pieces are finalised with a box cut fit affixed with white buttons for a polished aesthetic.
Also featured in this release is a collaboration between WACKO MARIA and retaW, headed by Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment design and Daisuke Murakami of Blender. Comprising of apothecary goods made from only natural ingredients, recent releases have featured items such as lip-balm, perfumes, car tags, and even shampoo & conditioner. The release features a collaborative candle piece which touches on elements between these two design-savy brands.
