CLOT's Spring/Summer 2021 "Chinese Hawaiian" collection takes inspiration from Edison Chen's frequent travels to Hawaii, fusing CLOT's East-meets-West heritage with design elements from the island state. 

This week, CLOT has released a bevvy of lightweight designs filled with auspicious Chinese patterns and Hawaiian elements. The pattern-heavy release incorporates Chinese symbols of good fortune onto relaxed and casual fits inspired by Hawaiian lifestyle. The latest drop features a mixture of casual designs like t-shirts, hoodies and crewnecks alongside a few tailored pieces made in Japan - a handful showcasing patterns of peaches, flowers, and various auspicious motifs.

CLOT GRAPHIC-DRIVEN TEES

This season we CLOT has introduced a range of summer-ready basics, seen through bold graphics like the CLOT Shadow Logo Tee, Dancing Women Tee & Hoodie and The Flowers Print Long Sleeved Tee! 

DANCING WOMEN TEE, HOODIE AND CLOT x NEW ERA SNAP BACK

The Dancing Women on the T-shirt and Hoodie are considered one of the main motifs of the season. Touching on how the Chinese community in Hawaii have adopted aspects of the Hawaiian heritage, the motifs feature Chinese women dancing the traditional Hula dance. 

CLOT x NEW ERA DAD CAP

CLOT references the ancient Chinese practice of Fengshui by adorning the classic New Era cap with traditional elements like the Bagua (八卦), a map used to analyze and create positive energy in spaces or your lifestyle. The Sun and Moon symbols on the back that say Night and Day in Chinese represent yin and yang energy. As the two contrasting motifs are bound together, the CLOT x New Era Dad Cap highlights the underlying unity of opposites and how interdependence brings balance to one's life. 

ICE CREAM CAMO CREWNECK

Drop 2 also includes CLOT staple patterns like the desert camo in lighter Spring colors, fittingly dubbed the "Ice Cream Camo".

CHINESE PRINT HOODIE

Dating back to 1500 BC, the powerful symbol of longevity and fortune has become firmly entrenched in Chinese art and culture. Repeating patterns on the Hoodie alongside peach motifs represent luck, immortality and longevity. The iconic CLOT logo's unique style references the longevity symbol, often found on textiles, furniture, ceramics and jewellery.

CLOT GRAPHIC BATH TOWEL

An essential for any trip to the beach, the CLOT Graphic Bath Towel dons a peachy hue and showcases Hawaiian-inspired florals in a style of art found in China. The towel itself features symbolic motifs like flowers that represent Spring blossom, the traditional longevity symbol, butterflies which are a symbol of bliss and immortality and a gourd-inspired outline which represents happiness and good luck.

MADE IN JAPAN

Perfect for the Spring/Summer season, the designs made in Japan utilises textiles of the highest quality and are lightweight fabrics help add to the laidback and breezy vibe. Flowers inspired by Hawaiian tropics can be found throughout the collection - now given a silk-like sheen on the 'Stand Collar Shirt', a shirt with traditional Chinese tailoring. CLOT playfully adopts the Hawaiian flower lei on a bold piece of knitwear.
