Jordan Brand Celebrates Basketball Greatness with New Jordan 3 Colorway
During Nike's Fall 2018 preview event, the Swoosh unveiled a new Jordan 3 colorway that's getting fans excited. Thanks to Nike's stories, we get a first look at the shoe. The classic basketball silhouette is draped in a patriotic American colorway mimicking the colours of Old Glory. Supposedly, the design was inspired by the GOAT’s remarkable and unforgettable performance during Magic Johnson’s “Midsummer Night’s Magic” charity game in 1988, which was viewed as somewhat of a “second” All-Star Game. While Jordan played on the blue team, this pair more closely resembles the white Eastern Conference jerseys of the 1988 NBA All-Star Game, in which Jordan was named MVP after scoring 40 points to win.
The upper is almost entirely made from white tumbled leather. Grey covers all of the elephant print at the toe and heel, as well the perforated leather on the tongue and around the ankle collar.
The rest of the accents, like the midsole, lace eyelets, tongue lining, and Jumpman logos (unfortunately no Nike Air logo on the heel), are marked in "Fire Red" and "Sport Blue," presenting a similar appearance to the Air Jordan 3 “True Blue.” The difference is, the midsole is split with blue towards the toe and red wrapping around the heel.
Two interesting features of the shoe include the grey and white star-studded sock lining, and the blue Michael Jordan replica signature on the tongue of the left shoe, just to the right of the Jumpman.
These are expected to hit the shelves of select Jordan retailers on July 7, the weekend following the USA’s 242nd Independence Day.
