Saint Michael's Vintage-Aesthetic Fall/Winter 2020 Collection at JUICE!
READYMADE founder Yuta Hosokawa and L.A.-based artist Cali Thornhill DeWitt have teamed up and started a new label called Saint Michael. Previously, DeWitt collaborated with Hosokawa on one of READYMADE’s collections, which then sprouted the relationship and team they currently have today.
St. Michael’s style is similar to READYMADE in the sense that both brands bring into light vintage-aesthetics and one of a kind pieces. Introducing the up and coming brand, Saint Michael's new Fall/Winter 2020 first release. The brand tries to stay true to the feel of vintage style, right down to the details and discoloration of each piece.
A great example in St. Michael’s recent Fall/Winter 2020 collection are the hoodie and sweater pieces, both involve hard discoloration and distortion to some degree, giving the pieces that vintage-aesthetic. This is done through the use of burning and distressing techniques to emulate a worn-out and roughed-up feel. As well as the use fake-stains as if it has gone through generations of wearers. Designs of the garments give wearers the impression of DIY and vintage stylistics, using markers and other tools to customise each piece to how the designers envisioned it.
