Adidas Takes Command of the Streets with All-New KAMANDA
Footballers and fans alike can unite in excitement for adidas Originals upcoming trainer, the KAMANDA. The design blueprint is evidently inspired by the global sport of football (or soccer, if you choose to call it that), and references back to the 1980s, where a football-fan subculture and movement known as Terrace reached its peak of popularity in the UK. It’s not difficult to compare the 2018 KAMANDA to the already-famous Samba, arguably the most popular option for indoor soccer and futsal.
Adidas gave us the first sneak peek of the KAMANDA at the tail-end of 2017. The shoe will be presented in two colour ways: uppers in either core black or collegiate burgundy attached to an eye-catching gum sole. This unique, beefy outsole is the real standout feature, and is sculpted to replicate the tread pattern of the Samba. The upper is composed of soft pigskin nubuck complete with a tonal leather lining and a contrasting white leather heel tab. With no Trefoil logo on the heel tab or the tongue, there is very minimal branding on the shoe with the exception of the perforated Three Stripes on both sides of each shoe and the gold foil “KAMANDA” box logo below the outer ankle collar.
To help prove its case that it truly does share a heritage in football, the length of the knitted mesh tongue is quite long — a feature incorporated to protect the lower ankles and feet during play. Furthermore, there is reinforced stitching on the instep near the wearer’s big toe, where a footballer would often drive or pass the ball.
The adidas KAMANDA will be available from 27th April 2018 at select JUICE locations.
