NEEDLES' new fall/winter 2020 collection bolstering a laid-back, vintage aesthetic
Since beginning in 1997, Keizo Shimizu’s NEEDLES has and continues to innovate vintage style through the recreation and reinterpretation of different vintage pieces. Needles’ style is definitive of American and Japanese fashion culture, a recurring staple icon in the brand’s pieces is the iconic butterfly embroidery, which has been inspired by the chest tattoo on the actor Steve McQueen in ‘Papillon’.
Having been inspired by the old school, Needles repurposes old school vintage garments into new pieces that are characteristically bold, eye-catching, and unique. The loose-fitting aesthetic dominates a majority of the brand’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection, utilizing oversized, repurposed vintage t-shirts as well as baggy, cargo pants reminiscent of the 90s.
The other half of the collection comprises various shirts cut and sewn into a range of different styles and aesthetics, which include tie-dye. As well as beautifully cut tie-dyed hoodies, reminiscent of their previous collection which included their unique cut and a sewn tie-dye t-shirt. Fan’s of vintage and the brand will be able to see Shimizu’s passion through the brand’s high-quality dissected and repurposed garments, which screams laid-back, chill and super-casual in the most unique way possible.
